3 common mistakes Car Buyers make

Are you making these mistakes when you go to buy a car?

1. Not having money down! Yes, you can finance the whole purchase of a vehicle with decent credit, but why would you want to pay interest on top of taxes and other fees? Also without money to put down, you may disqualify yourself from top tier financing.

2. Not doing research. In the information age, it amazes me how many shoppers don't have a clue what vehicle they want to look at, or what a "trim level is". I get it most people don't shop for vehicles more than once every 3 to 5 years, but there is an abundance of information to the consumer and arming yourself with at least the basics will go a long way. Do look up your trade-in value because if you don't know what to expect good luck.

3. Comparing Apples to Oranges. Vehicles have so many options many will look exactly the same but have vastly different features, miles can have a huge impact on price the same with the model year of a vehicle. Comparing private party to dealer vehicles is impossible; dealers in many states have laws that require them to inspect and meet certain safety standards, however, laws can vary between states some only require a visual walkaround inspection. Even on new vehicles, features can be vastly different and even how discounts are calculated could make comparing next to impossible.
